Colors of Fire and Ice in Artist Leonid Afremov's Painting
I love the way the warm red-orange of the lights and leaves contrast with the blues, purples and blacks of the night. Does anyone know whose work this is?
Update: thanks to a visitor who identified it as "Alley by the Lake" by Leonid Afremov. You can bid on his original works, as well as order prints and reproductions at his website - http://www.afremov.com/index.php

A Mother's Final Farewell
Every time I run across this image, time stops and for a moment, so does my heart. This young mother kisses her child who will succumb to hand, foot and mouth disease, in a hospital in Anhui Povence, China.
The image traps your spirit and you bounds you to her grief. The little details are heartbreaking: the grime on the weary mother's face, her grief stricken countenance, her shiny heart ring, her child reaching out his tiny hand to touch his mother . . .

How about you? Do you have an image that never fails to captivate you, to stop you in your tracks or elicit an emotional response? I'd love to see them Please share them in the comments.

Epic Swim with Whale Sharks at Utila Island!
A vacation to Utila Island is definitely on my bucket list. It is the westernmost island in Honduras' Bay Island chain and is one of the few places on Earth that you can see the gigantic whale shark year round.
The whale shark is the world's largest fish, growing to over 40 feet in length and weighing over 36 tons. Despite it's enormous size, it is a plankton feeder and considered docile towards divers. Scientists think that the whale sharks are attracted to the area by the bountiful plankton and rich nutrients brought in from the currents of the deep Cayman trench, located just northeast of the island.
Utila Island is a diving paradise surrounded by sparkling blue waters, an extensive coral reef teeming with sea life. With over 60 diving sites it's an ideal place to get your open water certification.
Where to stay: check out the Utila Dive Lodge, top rated on Tripadvisor. Be sure to check their Whale Shark package.

Just saw this video on Reddit. Can't help grinning from ear to ear. Although, how are the rest of us guys without any musical talent and a backup band suppose to top this?

One of the most epic and moving artistic talents I've seen
Kseniya Simonova's moving story telling by drawing scenes with sand that she manipulates on a light board. One of the most epic performances that I've seen, Simonova's performance on Ukraine's Got Talent had the judges tearing and the audiences clapping and cheering on their feet.
